Factors Affecting Service Use Intention of Long-Term Care among the Baby Boomer and the Elderly

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting service use intention of long-term care among the baby boomer and the elderly. This study conducts a longitudinal study using the modified Andersen model by age groups of the baby boomer and the elderly. This study examined random effects panel logit analysis for middle aged and elderly adults and the disabled by age variations. The results have shown that there are different factors Influencing factors for each specific age group of baby boomers and the elderly. The results were as follows: this study found that predisposing factors of the service use intention of long-term care were significantly related to sex, residential area. Enabling factors of the service use intention of long-term care were significantly related to neighbor relationship satisfaction, long-term care service recognition, private pension, saving, private pension, satisfaction, personal income level, household income, children, parents care. Need factors of the service use intention of long-term care were significantly related to psychological health, chronic diseases, disabled. So, there are a need for a policy considerations such as needs expanding coverage. Finally, implications and future research directions were discussed based on the finding of the study.
